BIO

Origin: Lower Sackville, NS, Canada

Genre: Indie Folk Pop

Label: (Independent)

An avid adventurist, this Nova Scotian singer-songwriter draws inspiration from themes of nature, travel and adventure; writing many of her songs from her vehicle in beautiful scenic locations while on the road on various solo adventures.

2025 ISSA finalist, emerging indie folk-pop artist Michelle Calder burst onto the music scene with the release of several successful singles throughout 2023, followed by her debut EP “Wanderlust,” in June 2024, which saw great success on the CIOE97.5 East Coast Top 30 Countdown, with one track spending 2 weeks at number one, (landing #9 for 2024 overall). Her sweet, contemplative and acoustic vibes (think Jewel jamming out with John Martyn), serenade you with nature/adventure themes, aiming to entice even the indoorsiest of folks to seek out the wildling within.

The first single from Michelle’s upcoming LP dropped March 2025, and is already charting on CIOE and the Canadian Indie Country Countdown national chart, and has been featured in Indiefferential Magazine (USA), on Q104 and FX101.9 (both mainstream radio in Halifax NS), and featured in blogs in Italy and Portugal, and satellite radio stations worldwide. Stay tuned for the “Wildling” LP later this year.
